Yorkshire Energy Park start date announced for £200m project
Plans for a £200m energy park just outside Hull have been given the final go ahead from Government. It's expected to start early next year and is set to create up to 4,480 jobs. Former Hedon Airfield's transformation could begin within 12 months.
International names including Dell, SSE and E.On Germany had pledged their support to the grand plans that would be a huge shot in the arm to Hull and East Yorkshire's economy.
The site hopes to generate enough energy to provide savings of 20 percent against market rates for tenants, as well as superfast broadband.
It will include an energy centre, data centre and disaster recovery suite, space for established and start-up businesses, education, training and research facilities alongside associated short-stay accommodation, an outdoor building materials and testing facility, manufacturing facilities and new sports facilities for the community.
An education and training campus is also planned.
The project will also see a specially-designed greenspace with ponds for water storage and drainage and re-located community sports facilities.
